Description

This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
Originally constructed in 1899, the newly renovated 319 Hawthorne Street, with its striking barrel-fronted limestone facade, is the perfect blend of the old and the new. It has all the charm and character of a historic property, combined with the sleek and sophisticated design of modern interiors.

This townhouse is a single-family home that features 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, landscaped front and rear gardens, and an expansive yard. The curved front creates a unique light-filled floor plan that maximizes the living space, with each room flowing seamlessly into the next.

As you step inside the home, you are greeted by a welcoming foyer complete with an integrated closet to hang your hat and coat after a long day. As you enter into a 50-foot parlor, you realize the breadth of space as the 10.5-foot ceilings let the light radiate throughout the open floor plan. To the left, a formal living room area flows into a generous dining area, perfect for entertaining. To the right is an elegant floating staircase and a well designed powder room. In the back, your kitchen features a large island with seating, a Verona natural gas fuel range, and quartz countertops. With a full complement of Boshe appliances including a 36" French door refrigerator, microwave drawer, integrated dishwasher, and a Summit wine fridge. Additionally, this kitchen features a wine bar with ample storage - entertaining for one or many will be a delight. The kitchen's custom cabinetry provides a plethora of storage, and the built-in desk and bookcase add a thoughtful area for repose.

Upstairs you find three bedrooms and two full baths. The sun-filled primary bedroom faces the serene backyard garden and features three large windows and a balcony. Three large closets provide generous storage. The primary bath is adorned with marble tiled floors, a tasteful double vanity, and a glass-enclosed rain shower. As you head down the hall toward the two front bedrooms, you pass a vented washer/dryer closet and a marble-tiled second bathroom. Each space is flooded with natural light by both skylights and the ample fenestration the historic townhouse provides.

The cellar can be accessed through an interior staircase, as well as from the front and rear, and is finished with marble tile floors and a powder room. It can easily be transformed into a gym, playroom, home office, or artist studio.

This masterfully re-imagined townhouse is located in the heart of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, minutes from Prospect Park. You are also near great dining establishments such as Camillo, Bonafini, Kulushkat, PLG Coffee House & Tavern, and Market Bar & Brewery, as well as several retailers like Sole Mate NYC and Greenlight Bookstore, as well as many more. Nearby public transportation includes the Winthrop 2 / 5 trains, Parkside Ave Q train, and many bus lines.

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood directly facing Prospect Park for 12 years. The neighborhood has wonderful attributes with access to the park, Botanical Garden, Zoo, library and museum being very high on the list. Many aspects of the neighborhood have deteriorated as well. The entrance to the park area has crime, homelessness, littering and over crowding in the warmer months. We are leaving this neighborhood after suffering many of these issues. Mainly our dog has become very anxious because of all-night sound and fireworks throughout the summer nights. If you have no dog and no young babies it is worth checking out."

"It’s better than some for sure. Gorgeous view of the Brooklyn Bridge when you cross the east river via the Manhattan Bridge B/Q. Both lines run fairly well and are rarely so crowded that you can’t get on. It is still commuting in New York, however, so delays are coming because the MTA is in disrepair and is struggling to deal with the volume of travel. "
