9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall, my child had a good experience at NNHS and was prepared very well for the rigors of college in STEM. Socially, there's lots of activities available as one would expect with 2k+ student body and state-of-the-art facilities but bullying and drugs are disturbingly prevalent. The principal is an extreme social justice activist that uses his position to indoctrinate students with his personal beliefs and views.Parent Review1y ago - Underwood Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAlthough there are some strong teachers, they are all new and young (all of the experienced teachers miraculously left within the first few years after the arrival of the no longer new Principal). The Principal is an administrator, not a leader. The school community is significantly lacking without empowered and experienced educators and strong leadership. Consistent with the Newton schools, the academics are fine... they follow the common core curriculum precisely, one worksheet at a time with little variation. if you want experiential or more effective and creative learning that will prepare your children for the future look elsewhere.Parent Review7y ago - Check out schools near 28 Sargent St.

"Close knit community, close to T station and vibrant city center that is really convenient for all. "

"Newton Centre combines the best or urban and suburban living. Eminently walkable, with a huge variety of shops and restaurants a quick stroll away and a subway stop at its heart, the neighborhood invites you to leave your car in the garage you probably have and complete your errands on foot. Parks and recreational facilities, including a large lake with a public beach, are within the neighborhood’s bounds. When you need to get somewhere by car, you’re quickly connected to two major highways and only minutes from downtown Boston and Logan Airport, but the minute you return home, you’ll hear crickets chirping and children playing and struggle to believe that your tree-lined street is so close to such a major city and its associated environment.
