9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth principal and his assistant are effeminate men. They never have your child’s interest and safety in place. They don’t care, they’re exactly like teenagers holding grudge and are moody. They’ll definitely backstab your child, ironically these are the men in charge and are supposed to do exact opposite. Academics is low, facility is low, staff is low, this needs to be shut down.Other Review1mo ago - Bowen Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome of this is very teacher-dependent. There are good teachers at Bowen. There are also teachers just coasting by.The facility is very tired and not maintained well.Parent Review4y ago - Newton South High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePossibly the worst school in MA for the COVID response, as it is still going on. So many teachers are absent every day. Up to 45 teachers are absence each day, some for weeks at a time. Actually disgraceful. Some teachers are good, and they care. But there seems to be no rules for how many days teachers can be absent (and this is over 3 years). Some classes also dont teach content related to the class, but rather social issuesParent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2 Hammond Pond Pkwy #501.

What Locals Say about Chestnut Hill
- Trulia User
- Resident

"Easy access to the T and bus lines and some major commuter thoroughfares, but traffic can be heavy. The highway however is not too close"
- Trulia User

"Trees are beautiful. Homes well maintained. Lovely place to live and accessible to great amenities. Hiking trails yet close to great restaurants and downtown Boston. "
- Rconlin13
- Resident
- 3y ago
"There are parks such as Skyline and Millennium parks that are nice to visit. The side streets are quiet which are nice to walk on."
- Dbetebenner
- Resident
- 5y ago
"Boston has terrible traffic and commutes into the City are really bad. If you commute in the opposite direction to the majority it isn’t bad. Going back and forth across the Charles River for a commute is really bad. "
- Mpsimon
- Resident

"there are only 5 houses on the street and everyone is very friendly and love to take care of their house beautiful walks in the area, Private road gives very warm feel."

"Lots of places to walk one's dog. It's a great way to meet other dog owners in the neighborhood."
- M.C.
- Resident

"I would say that it is a car-dependent neighborhood. While there are shops where one can pick up groceries, any major shopping requires a car or delivery."
- M.C.

"The Brookline Public Library Putterham is a wonderful gathering place. The park on the VFW Parkway is great for families. Our community is pet friendly."

"Traffic never really seems to be a big issue here. Of course, there's still a rush hour, but it's way more tolerable than the traffic of nearby towns."
- Raquel O.

"Chestnut Hill is a beautiful, quaint suburb with an almost small-towny feel to it. But the city of Boston is just a 15-minute drive down the road!"
- Raquel O.

"It is a safe neigborhood. You'll often see families out for walks together or riding bikes."

"It's a great and safe neighborhood. Generally little crime and lots of private school options."
- Ellen C.

"Different parts of Chestnut Hill lie in three different cities—Boston, Brookline, and Newton. I live in a complex that is partially in Brookline and partially in Boston."
- Ellen C.
- Resident

"You need to know which city your part of Chestnut Hill is in so that you know what public school your kids can attend. Brookline and Newton both have very good school systems. Boston varies by location."
- Karen Z. G.

"The neighborhood is friendly and small and is very supportive of the local schools. It is also close to public transportation. "
