5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCertain teachers at KCHS are very pushy about their politics. School should be about learning and growing. In order to do that topics need to be discussed and debated in a fair and mediated way. That does not happen here. This schools focus seems to be only to get kids to do better on state tests and "prepare" them for college, which, by the numbers, they fail at. It's very disheartening to talk to my child about school and learn that it has only gotten worse since I attended high school here 20 years ago. If your child is going to succeed here you as a parent will have to be more heavily involved in talking with your student about topics the school deem unimportant. Overall I would say the lack of an actual education is NOT made up for by the Kalamazoo Promise. Your child would be better served at a better school and then having to find a way to fund their own college education. "I've lived in this neighborhood for almost 17 years. I know many of my neighbors and there's a sense of community. Some keep to themselves but many are friendly and social and help one another when there is a need. We keep a contact email list for the block for easy communication. "
