This home is part of the reason I felt comfortable with my decision to move out west. After touring over 300 homes, I finally found the perfect spot, and what sold me was the location. Canyon Haus is located at the mouth of Ogden Canyon on the backside of Snowbasin (you can ski home through the backcountry), minutes away from bike trails, rapids on the Ogden River, Pineview Reservoir, and several ski resorts, yet just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City. Best of all, the house backs up to the private Ogden River floodplain and adjacent hot springs, so no neighbors behind you, only the peaceful sounds of the river.

Canyon Haus is perfect for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. From rock climbing in the canyon, tubing or fishing, to paddleboarding on Pineview, skiing at several world class resorts or riding bikes on the Ogden River Parkway to catch live music downtown. Canyon Haus is your central hub. It's no surprise some of the nicest homes in all of Ogden are right in this neighborhood. We benefit from the cooler river canyon temps in the summer and the fresh Mountain air year round!

The house is newly remodeled to include energy efficient passive solar heating and cooling architecture. There is a warm and welcoming feeling as you walk in the door and the evening sun lights up the golden bowling alley lanes and red brick kitchen backsplash upstairs, all reclaimed from historic 25th street in downtown Ogden. Ogden’s history is so rich that I wanted to incorporate as many materials from its past as possible. Needless to say, this home is truly unique, and I took pride in creating a space that would honor the location and bring people together.

Upstairs in this split level home are the master bedroom with connected bathroom and walkout, and another bedroom, bathroom, and office. The kitchen was completely remodeled to feel more open and inviting, and can comfortably entertain a large gathering of friends and family around the woodstove. Downstairs, you’ll find two more bedrooms with connecting bathrooms, another fully remodeled kitchen, living room, another fireplace and laundry room. Both levels have their own separate entrances and alternative sources of heat: wood stove upstairs and pellet stove downstairs and in the garage/shop. The house’s plumbing has been completely updated, and the main sewer line was relined two years ago.

The backyard is large and fenced, with a gate leading directly to the private floodplain and river. Artificial turf has been installed to eliminate watering/mowing. Two decks offer stunning views of sunrise through the canyon and sunset across the Great Salt Lake. A hot tub, fire pit and four garden boxes surround the lower deck, shaded by pear trees I planted when I first bought the house. Two massive black walnut trees keep the front yard cool in midsummer, and the side yard has plenty of space to park an RV or boat for when you’re ready to zip up to Pineview Reservoir to escape the heat.

As for the garage, we planned and already installed most of the plumbing to put in another laundry unit and bathroom inside, and build another master suite/ mother-in-law apartment above. However, our direction has changed and we are looking to sell Canyon Haus before seeing this project come through to fruition. There is still so much potential in this house and we are sad that we did not get to complete the dream of building over the garage with the accompanying roof top entertainment area. We will include the architectural plans with the house sale. You can see some of the renderings attached in the photos.

I have poured my heart and soul into this house, as is hopefully made apparent by the endless amount of custom work throughout the home. If you appreciate detail, you’ll love Canyon Haus. There is truly no other home like this in Ogden. The home is rented out now and the tenants have shown interest in continuing the rental agreement with a new landlord.
