    "Dover is the perfect sized city for me. It's walkable, within a short bike ride of many places to work and play, and has great public transportation. The cost of living in Dover is also much more reasonable than surrounding communities closer to UNH or the seacoast. That said, it is still just a 20-30 minute drive to the larger city of Portsmouth and NH's beaches, a 1.5 hour drive or train ride to Boston, and a 1-2 hour drive to the White Mountains. It's also only 10 minutes from the University of New Hampshire making it a great place to live for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students. Dover has a surprisingly lively music scene with live music at various venues at least 4 times a week. There are also a number of great restaurants and bars that cater to different crowds. The last thing I'll mention is the amazing number of amateur athletics options around Dover. Seacoast NH has some of the best cycling, mountain biking, road racing, trail running, triathlon, master's swimming, cross-fit, snowshoeing, and x-c skiing options I have encountered in any of the places I have lived. It really is a multi-sport athlete's paradise. There is even some respectable, albeit choppy, surf when a storm is approaching. The only downside to living in NH is that while you pay no personal income tax, they do hit you with property taxes on both homes and cars. And, I sometimes think that the lack of an income tax results in reduced or delayed services like street sweeping and sidewalk plowing, but they eventually get the job done. Overall, I highly recommend Dover as a great place to live, work, and play."
