"Arlington center is lovely, historic, convenient and a perfect blend of suburb and city. Just too bad they blocked the red line from coming here. "

"I work from home because the commute is a bit of a pain. If I do go into our Back Bay office, it can take upwards of 25 minutes to drive to Alewife station and an addition 40-60 minutes to take the T to Boston."

"There really isn’t a better place in terms of density - not too dense but not completely auto-reliant. Mass transit and distribution of retail throughout neighborhoods could be better so we don’t have to use cars at all. "

"There are many dog owners frequently walking dogs. We are also a couple of blocks from the mystic river with a beautiful natural walk way that is very popular with dog walkers."

"There are a lot of dog owners in the neighborhood. Although they usually own their house or apartment. Finding an apartment that allows dogs and is affordable is very difficult/almost impossible in all of Boston, and Arlington is no exception."

Plan ahead, as there are many public and private schools around, which contribute to pedestrian crossing and slower travel. Bike trail is incredibly helpful"

"Arlington, due to its location between Cambridge and Lexington, is often the spillover beneficiary of both of its more notable neighbors. Classic urban benefits (restaurant breadth, public transit) mingle with traditional suburban ones (public school quality, safety), creating a pretty unique environment. Housing prices are reflective. Akin to most of the Boston area, private transportation amenities and capacity are a bit 'last century' (or two). Parking rules are idiotic (allowed too close to driveways and intersections blocking sight lines, instigating the infamous 'bang a left'). Road conditions are often subpar and layout nonsensical due to the 'paved over cowpath' origins. The city (its too big to be a 'town') is becoming a bit more culturally mixed, though politics can be parochial. Continued assimilation by newcomers will create a truly heterogeneous, American city."
