Des plaines has wonderful schools. Very easy to reach anywhere because of being close to the airport. We also have access to many major highways. Metra is easy to get to here for access to downtown."

    "I have a 10 min walk to Metra station and short walks to bus stops through out the neighborhood. we have never used the bus, but walked to take a train downtown. The commute to the city is 30 -40 min depending on the train type (express/regular). I would say the commute is easy. that is the main reason we still live in Des Plaines."

There are many charming homes with lovely gardens in this town, along with parks and the nearby forest preserve. Compared to bordering suburbs, property taxes are low. Only 30 minutes from downtown via Metra, and 10 minutes from O'Hare airport."

    "I actually love this neighborhood. My daughter is 9 and has quite a few friends that live in it and I always thought it was a nice area to raise kids. A lot of really beuatiful houses, old trees lining the streets, a lot of character, houses seem to be very well maintained but cozy, and it's close to the grade school and if anything ever sticks in the store fronts down town it would be really close to shopping/restaurants. Just my personal opinion, if I could I would love to live in this area."
