What Locals Say about West Hartford

"Terrible, traffic all the way both ways and it doesn’t stop. Door to door traffic going from west Hartford to East Hartford because you have to cross the river. "

"My neighborhood around Whiting Lane is extremely walkable. You can walk to the center of town, where there are lots of restaurants, an amazing library, a movie theater, and frequent outdoor music. If you work in Hartford you can walk to the bus stop, or it’s a short car ride. Many people ride their bikes. The area is extremely close to Whiting Lane school and fields, which also has a running track behind it! Elizabeth park is a short walk. Several public pools are walkable, or bikeable. There are also lots of restaurants, coffee shops and small stores and markets that are walkable. Two great breweries are extremely close. It’s a very social neighborhood, a morning “dog walking group” meets at the field, and most neighbors know each other. "

"If you live near the center you can have a city-lite rhythm to your life— walking to restaurants, bars, shopping, Whole Foods, movie theatre, Barnes and nobles, parks, and great library. But the region is pretty dead economically, so may not be this good forever."

Morley Elementary school (rated one of the best in town!) two blocks away! There are a nice mix of young professionals, young couples, young families, established families and seniors all on the same block!"
