What Locals Say about Newburgh

  • Kevin L.
"Newburgh is a bit of a melting pot, so beyond the Illuminated Festival (celebrating this being the second city, after NYC, to received electricity and Thomas Edison’s temporary residence here) there’s everything from Peruvian Music festivals to air shows at New York Stewart International to a rowing club on the Hudson River. There’s a great art scene with wonderful galleries and strong community service representation."

"I’ve lived in Newburgh for almost 4 years now and I love it. It is VERY rough around the edges but people won’t bother you unless you bother them. There are several gems in the area if you’re willing to look. Being right on the water is a huge plus. Please spend some time in Newburgh before you listen to negative comments from someone that doesn’t live here ! "

"The town of Newburgh is fairly quiet and safe. There is some theft and vandalism that happens during the night, so cars must be locked. Otherwise, the area is nice. The city of Newburgh, on the other hand, is still a work in progress."

"If it’s not the town of Newburgh. It will not be quiet day or night. It will always have people out side ( hangout ). If you allow your kids to go out side to play. U must watch your children at all times. Unless you have a fenced in yard. Even then you must still keep a eye on your children. The inside of the places are beautiful to a lot of these places. The school is even a great school. One of the best. As in academics. Everything else well you have to have a special taste to live in the city of Newburgh. It’s not for everyone. Only the strong of the strongest can live here, and still make it and still survive. So if that’s not you. Don’t be fooled stay in the Town Of Newburgh or others. Now remember no matter where you live doesn’t define who you are. Who you are as a person is everything. "
